Activities

BCSamachar is a group people of backward classes initiated by the professionals and intellectuals. The objective of the group is to work for the empowerment of the backward classes through social networking and sharing the information. The following are the activities of the group.

BC Samachar magazine: BCSamachar is a magazine, which comes once in a monthly, mainly focuses on the activities related to the welfare and development of BC Communities. It will identify the issues in the villages/towns and project those issues to motivate the communities to come together to solve their problems/issues.

Networking at Global level: As of now there are no organised forums/groups for BC Communities to come together to fight for their problems. It was felt that, there is a need to network all the communities and create a platform for BC Communities. A website is operational (www.BCSamachar.com) to collect the information and to create a network of artisans, employees, students, professionals and intellectuals, NRIs and others. The network is mainly focuses on developing relations among the communities and the leaders to come together to work for a common cause. A Google group also is operational now.

A Resource centre for BCs: There is no hardly any place to find the BC communities and their role in building the society from the history. BCs culture, traditions, systems etc were not recorded anywhere and they are not able to transfer the knowledge and systems to the younger generations. There is a need to identify and document the traditional occupations, culture, etc and to create a information centre for BCs.

Information on Welfare activities and GOs: Several Government orders, welfare activities related information was collected and placed in the website for community use. The information is useful to utilise the government schemes and also know the socio, political information in the state and the status of BC Communities in the present scenario.
